Hi, my name is Ken. I’m an 82 male widower who has a number of health issues. Both of my knees need replacement but due to A-fib and the fact that my lung capacity is about 55% i’m restricted as what i can do. No jogging or anything aerobic. My core is in terrible shape. A close friend introduced me to Rae in Motion. We have worked together about 3 months. My core is much improved, I’ve lost considerable weight as she has guided my diet especially salt intake. The workouts, though short, are quite intense. This is not for someone who wants little effort with results. She makes me smile while i’m hurting and see has a great sense of humor. My goal for 2021 is to get off my cane and walker and be mobile again. My sessions are a favorite part of my week.

Nicole Rae has been my trainer for almost two years, beginning shortly after my successful back and knee surgeries. Being in the “over 60” crowd, I have had to rebuild the strength in my legs and core. Nicole has helped me immeasurably to get that strength back. Nicole is an outstanding trainer and a wonderful person with a magnetic smile. She knows exactly what she is doing and exactly what I need, and she knows how to get me to work hard. Our one-on-one virtual exercise sessions enable her to watch and coach me so I use the correct form to get maximum benefit from the exercise. She customizes my routine and adjusts it frequently as I progress. The twice weekly virtual sessions are enough to enable me to build and maintain strength. She also watches to be sure I do not over-stress my muscles, so my routines are done safely and without that day-after soreness. Although she pushes me to do more reps than I would do on my own, safety is always at the top of her mind and she will not push me beyond my ability and my level of fatigue. In return, she expects me to work hard to achieve the goals that we have set. Also, the regular schedule of exercise is helping me lose a few pounds! My involvement with Nicole Rhoades started with some trepidation on my part! I have been through exercise programs, Physical Therapy, Water Aerobics, and several other types of therapies that are supposed to help me get stronger and/or more flexible. I am handicapped, and among other things my balance is poor. There are 3 stories in my house and going from the sewing room (basement) to my bedroom (second floor) is tricky sometimes. I also get episodes of extreme fatigue that many people misinterpret.
Nothing has ever helped me in a sustained way. I’ve been bullied and pushed around and coddled and joked into performing, but I have ended up hurt, and worse off than when I started. I was interested in a time-limited type of guidance and I figured online would be the best bet. I can always hit ‘Exit’!
By the luck of the draw and the Hand of God, I found Nicole. From the very first phone contact I was comfortable with her and regarding exercise, that has NEVER happened! She stepped over my mountain of resentment, reassuring me it was noted. I made her listen to all my sad stories of woe and my reservations about initiating an exercise program. I told her I feared the activity would hurt me. That has happened in the past, it wasn’t just me being a wuss.
Well, maybe a little bit being a wuss. Sort of.
Nicole did something that nobody has ever done; She said she promised she wouldn’t hurt me! My jaw dropped when she said that. I believed her then and I believe her now, four months later. She lived up to that promise and if I feel depleted, she adjusts the exercises appropriately. She doesn’t try to talk me out of feeling the way I feel, and that is so respectful it brings tears to my eyes. I think she doesn’t even realize what freedom she has given me by letting me consistently exercise safely and with understanding.
I am much more flexible now, and what shocked me was I can sometimes go up the stairs one foot at a time, step overstep! Unbelievable. I have had to get upstairs one foot then bring the next foot and cling to the banister and try to balance for years. I have not gone step overstep in years, many years. It changes my life to be able to master that movement.
Nicole also promised me she would bring me results. I didn’t believe her, I truly didn’t.
But she did it! She gets me through the limited and adjusted exercises that I can do, and magically I am getting stronger. I really didn’t think I would go upstairs step overstep ever again. She promised me improvement, and I felt better and more flexible from the first little session.
I am pretty sure, no, I am quite sure I would not be consistently following this exercise program without her. I consider myself a capable and independent woman and it is hard to admit but it happens to be true. Her professionalism, kindness and respect are so powerful I can feel it through my laptop screen. I can tell she is glad to be doing what she is doing and glad to see me every session. I have come to trust her like family, with the same love, the same sense of enjoyment to see her. More significant to me, I feel safe. I know she won’t lead me to hurt myself. I am so lucky to have found her and she is such a welcome addition to my life.
If you are considering beginning a training program with Nicole, stop, just stop considering it and just do it. Sign up, do the deal, get going. You will not be disappointed; I can tell you that. It’s the best use of your money.
